Welcome!

SOREQ CAVE (Stalactite Cave)

One way to create some stereo images is to use a standard photo camera. To do this, make the first picture, move the camera about 6cm to the right and make the second one. It is important that you don't rotate the camera, nor shift the camera up or down.
One advantage is that it is the easiest and cheapest method to make stereo pictures. Another is that you can change the stereo base quite easy. The disadvantage of this method is that there must be no moving object in the scene.

Here are some pictures of the Stalactite Cave, which were created using a standard photo camera.
You need red-blue-glasses to see them... (click on the thumbnails to enlarge)

I took them  at the western slopes of the Judean Hills, south of Nahal- Soreq and approximately 2 km (1 1/4 miles) east of Bet- Shemesh. (June 2002). The lighting in the cave is low (so as to preserve the stalactites), and I could not take very good pictures by digital camera.
